After Alaska, there were about two weeks before I left again, and this time it was to the wonderful city of Chicago. This, too, was another first for me as I had never been and had it on the top of my list for some time now.
I would not have had this experience had it not been for a dear friend of mine that came to visit from there and convinced me of a perfect time to go: PRIDE! This was yet ANOTHER first for me, and I was told by several people that they are always enjoyable experiences, and just for the record: it was totally awesome! Everybody from all colors of the spectrum, together in peace, is truly an honor to experience.
You should have seen me the night before I was to fly out of Florida. I was jumping up and down yelling that I was going to Chicago. I do not even think that I got much sleep that night, but that is what a plane ride can be for is sleep, especially if you get a couple cocktails while in layover time. The car ride to the airport in Jacksonville was a heart felt moment, not to mention all the anxiety and excitement that was going on in the background. I could not have asked for anything better than that car ride as I will never forget it and will always love you for that and everything that you do! ...*pointing, mean it, true!
That goes the same for my return trip. Oh, my binary boo, you are beautiful lady who I have the pleasure to know. Our trip was a fabulous adventure, and I loved taking it with you. 1010101!
Finally arriving in Chi-town, I had to make my way from Midway Airport to Lakeview, which really was not that difficult, plus I did have some guidance from a wonderful woman I had the pleasure of sitting next to on the airplane, thank you again! "As he walks about the train ports, Wrigleyville, and at last comes to the stop, he sees her and starts to jump, meets her with a hug, then throws down the bags and says let's do this right, and with a bear's embrace says hello my darlin' as I am finally here!" From that moment on, IT WAS ON! Chicago here I come if not only for a week.

Oh how beautiful it was, and I did not know that the fountain from Married with Children was in Chicago. I suppose I never really knew what city they lived in, so I was pleased to have come across that. "Love and marriage, love and marriage..." We had our "double gulp" and just had a blast walking the city. I tell you what, that bean was something to see.
Everything was just gorgeous. I got to run along the lake, about 12 miles, and see a very local side of Chi-town. Loved going to the beach! The scenery was impressive, the people were fun, and miles were long!

It was a good thing I managed to exercise while there because the food selection was incredible, not to mention delicious. Oh, Gino's Pizza, how I look forward to my return to your establishment, as well as to Deuce's. I am a pizza fanatic, and was thoroughly pleased with my findings. There was also a place, Rocks Bar Group, that had one of those food challenges, ROCKstar challenge, that if you are able to finish everything within a certain amount of time, the food is free and you make it on their wall of fame. It is a total of four pounds of food, three of which is a massive burger three stacks high with a pound of french fries.
Now, you had thirty minutes to complete the challenge while not getting help or regurgitating it back out, or you would not finish the challenge. I did not make it. As I got down to the last patty, I had barely touched the fries, and my stomach was already killing me. There was no way I could complete it. It was all fine, though, as the one I was with just wanted to see me attempt it: WHY NOT!
I so love you for that as it was a fun time as was all the other times I got to spend with you like this place, The Horizon Cafe, where we had an amazing brunch; another place I look forward to going to again, and hopefully with you darlin'! We also got to venture out to the Lincoln Park Zoo, which was beautiful of course. That little bear was so adorable! Wally, you will always have a brother in me!

The big event while in the great Chi-town was the PRIDE festival.
Now, I had never been to a PRIDE event of this caliber; never really been to one at all.
Did I know I was in for a treat!
I had the perfect outfit to wear for the parade (when you go for it, you sure as hell better go for it!), and it was a hit on the streets. Everyone was dancing and just having a blast on the streets as it was just one big party celebration of many things, plus all the beautiful people!
Never had I seen anything like it, and I want to see it again. It would be cool to be able to plan one year around PRIDE events around the world; now that would be something!
Chicago, I had such a blast with you. To all my friends, both the old and new ones, I thank you for the time you gave me as it was a one-of-a-kind experience and one that will be treasured always. From letting me stay with you, to taking me around,
to holding my hands in the streets and not
being shamed, to the laughter that came from all over, you have introduced me to Chicago and helped me fall in love with it. It will definitely not be the last time I enjoy Chi-town. Therefore, Chicago gave me the sparks to finally set into motion plans that have been in the making for quite some time: the open road, and I shall see you, Chi-town, soon!
